Process

My process begins with the client consultation. We will walk the site, or house together and bounce ideas off one another. Once I get a clear understanding of the clients needs I  focus on the site and the climactic conditions which are unique to each place. Synthesizing that information with hand sketching we start to create a vision for what the project can be.

How we get there

The five phases of architecture, and how I will provide you with value at each step of the way.

Schematic Design

This is where I work with the client to create a plan that both takes advantage of site specific features, and meets their needs. We will agree on an aesthetic and create a plan and 3d model with the topographic conditions of the site. By taking things into 3d I am able to give the client a holistic perspective of what their building will look like, and reduce expensive changes later on.

Design Development

We begin to think about materials, layouts of specific systems within the building, and create more detailed drawings. Working with the client to advise with the decisions necessary to make during the next phase. In this part of the process with my construction experience I can give you suggestions based on your budget.

Construction Documents

We detail how the systems of the house work together. With my knowledge of building codes and different jurisdictions in and around the Seattle area I will help you obtain a permit as quickly as possible. These are the documents we will use to bid the project.

Bidding

We have created the door, now we have to walk through it. Bidding involves, first and foremost, selecting a contractor . With a network of local contractors that I have been through the process with, I can recommend someone you can trust that will exceed your expectations.

Construction Administration

With the contractor selected I will help with anything that comes up during the construction process and during my site visits ensure that things meet code. I will set the contractor up with a 3d model of the project so they can visualize the finished product. My hands on experience with cost-effective construction techniques and materials will help keep your budget under control and spend money on the things that really matter.
